A two way bilingual immersion program is a bilingual education program that integrates English learners and English-speaking students for instruction in & through two languages (Two Way Immersion 101). This program provides language, literacy, & content area instruction to all its students in both languages, in our case, Spanish & English. Basically, this program emphasizes challenging standards in the core curriculum domains while enriching the students’ development in both their first & second languages (Lindholm-Leary, 2001), all the while creating positive cross-cultural bonds & attitudes (Trends in Two-Way Immersion Education).
